Web Conferencing/Live Chat @ USM
January 17, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
FreeWeb conferencing is a way for instructors to synchronously communicate with students online, in real time. Currently, USM has three different applications that facilitate web conferencing: Big Blue Button, Yuja Video Classroom, and Microsoft Teams. Each application has certain benefits and limitations. This workshop is designed as an overview of each application. Topics included within this workshop are:
- Application functionality
- Connection to a course (Canvas)
- Session archiving/recording
Big Blue Button and Yuja are developing new versions of their web conferencing products. Those update will be discussed in detail. Microsoft Teams is replacing Skype for Business at the end of 2021. Teams has all the functionality of Skype for Business and some additional tools/capabilities.
This workshop is led by Mark Ferguson. If you need more information, please contact Mark Ferguson at mark.ferguson@usm.edu, or call 601.266.6581.
DISCLAIMER: your department or school may have purchased a license for another web conferencing product other that what is listed above (like Zoom). In that case, we can certainly discuss your product during the session but USM will not offer any training or support for this product.
